Mediation

Dispute Resolution is a general term used to describe methods of resolving disputes without the full use or formality of the court. The dispute resolution services described below include only those methods which employ a neutral third party.

Mediation is a process by which a professionally trained and experienced third party assists two or more disputing parties to reach a satisfactory resolution to their dispute. The Mediator does not make the decision for the parties but structures the discussion, provides general information and guides the process so that the parties have an opportunity to arrive at the best solution possible. The most common area for Mediation is in Family Law, but mediation is often used in work-place disputes and neighbor-to-neighbor disputes as well as Landlord-Tenant disputes. Parties entering Mediation may or may not be accompanied by attorneys depending upon their wishes. Parties are always encouraged to obtain their own independent legal representation.
